Australia’s most comprehensive triathlon website, TriathlonOz.com is gaining a significant following among Australia’s Triathlon community who have identified the website as the newest and best place for all things multi sport.

The fully independent, non-affiliated and 100% Australian-owned and operated website - which has been in operation for 3 months – was created for runners, cyclists, swimmers, triathletes and multisport athletes to facilitate the sharing of information via a unique network which brings likeminded athletes of all ages and abilities together.

It’s also a place whereby users can access useful articles full of tips and techniques and to find out what events are going on around the whole country. The site is free to browse and is complete with useful tools and features such as an Australia-wide Events Calendar, pace calculator, classifieds and blogs written by members of the site.

“If you’re a training fanatic, chances are you’ve got tons of questions and a very limited group of people to go to for advice,” says Michelle Martin, co-owner of TriathlonOz. “Like us, you may have already tried out a few different websites and forums and found limitations as most are either from the USA, or only represent one state of Australia."

Recent additions to the site include the publishing of an Australia wide club list on the site - with info from Triathlon Australia – where clubs can log in and edit info or add new info by following the link http://www.triathlonoz.com/Clubs/Default.aspx. Also, the events calendar now has a handy new feature whereby you can to click on the date icon of an event to import details directly into your Outlook calendar.

With a range of smart interactive tools giving registered site users the ability to publish their own content and exchange training tips, routes, stories, ideas, and opinions, TriathlonOz has the potential to be the most influential and prominent knowledgebase network of sporting enthusiasts in the Australian triathlon/multisport industry.

One new member, M.James of Greenwood says the new website was just what she was looking for:
“What attracted me to TriathlonOz was the fact that in one site I could find everything I needed to know about upcoming events and the latest news, as well as share ideas and get tips from other athletes of similar ability via the forum and blogs. The fact that the site is non-affiliated with any club or governing body means I know the information I'm getting is unbiased and comprehensive. I’m pretty fanatical about triathlon and have been to virtually every Australian website relating to it, but TriathlonOz.com is the only one I ever go to now - it has everything I need."

TriathlonOz Sponsorships

As part of TriathlonOz’ commitment to the ongoing support and development of the triathlon industry, it is now offering sponsorships of events, clubs and individual athletes across Australia.

“As part of our commitment to our members, the clubs which they represent and the triathlon movement as a whole, we are happy to announce that we are currently reviewing requests for sponsorship and encourage clubs, event organisers and even individual athletes to apply,” Mrs Martin said.

Applications for sponsorship can be submitted to [email protected] or by calling 08 9403 3737.

Contact Profile

TriathlonOz is owned and published by Perth-based I.T. Beyond Pty Ltd - a well established company with over 25 years experience in the I.T. industry. Although TriathlonOz has only recently been launched, I.T. Beyond has expertise in building and maintaining successful websites after the creation of ExplorOz.com in 2000 as a wholly-online business entity and community sharing concept website for 4WD & RV enthusiasts.

With a unique offering to a niche market, ExplorOz.com quickly became Australia's most influential website in the self-drive tourism market and is the company’s main business focus. ExplorOz now operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of I.T. Beyond.

The desire for I.T. Beyond to create TriathlonOz in 2011 evolved from the passion of the company’s owners, David and Michelle Martin, who are active triathletes and multisport competitors. David Martin has qualified to race in this year’s 2011 World Ironman 70.3 Triathlon to be held in Las Vegas in September, and recently achieved 2nd place in the UCI World Cycling Tour (UWCT) Time Trial - a qualifying event for the World Championships.

Features of the Website
When designing the website, market research found that the triathlon community was desperately in need of a single independent website that could not only provide information on upcoming events and articles on training methods, but also a place whereby athletes could share information with each other, buy products online and create personalised profile pages.

With this in mind the team at TriathlonOz included the following features in the new site:

  • An Australia-wide event calendar that is fully interactive and already features over 350 triathlons or multisport events for 2011. The site also features a way for clubs to enter any upcoming events into the system;
  • An Australia-wide club listing – featuring all clubs listed with Triathlon Australia;
  • A comprehensive online shop with products ranging from sports nutrition, training references, guide books, and DVDs, to the best quality brands of outdoor equipment for Adventure Race and multisport enthusiasts.
  • A Classifieds section whereby athletes can sell unwanted equipment – free text ads are available, or display ads can be purchased.
  • Full site access is available, including registration to interact, totally free.
  • For a more enhanced service, people can opt to upgrade their registration to Member status for a fee of $50 (12 month membership). This provides tools for publishing blogs & training routes, and entitles 5% discount on all orders in the shop, plus free postage for orders over $125.
