Jobfind Centres Australia hosted a mammoth Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea this morning, donating over $20,000 to the Cancer Council.

Jobfind Centres Australia today hosted its Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea event to raise much needed funds for cancer research, education, prevention and support. Given that cancer is likely to affect one in two Australians by the age of 85, Jobfind is proud to have supported this very worthwhile cause.

With Centres around Australia, Jobfind’s staff across areas such as Sydney, Wollongong, Lismore and Darwin have been baking up a storm to raise funds for the Cancer Council. Only just last week, Jobfind Centre Lismore hosted a very colourful Mad-Hatter themed morning tea, with over 100 local community members attending and over $1500 raised.

At Jobfind’s Head Office, Training Services Coordinator Julia Henricks has been diligently raising funds over the entire month of May with her daily desk-to-desk morning tea cart. And today, Julia pulled out all stops to plan a lavish, fun-filled event that raised over $1,000.

“Aside from having a little fun here today, there’s no getting away from the fact that cancer is a very serious issue and one that has likely touched the lives of almost everyone in this room”, said Michael Hughes, Executive Director at Jobfind.

“As many of you know, the Cancer Council has quite an ambitious goal of raising $11 million this year through Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. In addition to staff donations collected today and the money raised in our Centres throughout Australia, Jobfind has dug a little bit deeper into its own pocket and we'd like to present the Cancer Council today with a cheque for $20,000 on behalf of Jobfind.”

Graham Lugsdin, from the Cancer Council NSW, was there to accept the cheque and had this to say:

“Thank you very much to Jobfind for your generous support - we do appreciate it. As we say for Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, every cup counts and it's fantastic that you've put in such effort today. Thank you for the opportunity of being part of your morning tea.”
