Guangzhou, China - In October 2008, the 104th session of the Canton Fair moved to new complex completely and adopted a significant reform of 3 phases in one session, serving the transformation of foreign trade development mode and optimization of export product structure. The Canton Fair attributes itself to protecting the reputation of “Made in China”, forging Chinese brands, and promoting balanced development of import and export, thus it has achieved positive results and upgraded the proficiency of holding exhibitions.

To consolidate the reform achievements, approved by the Ministry of Commerce, the 105th session of the Canton Fair will be held in Guangzhou from April 15 to May 7, 2009. This session still has 3 phases, with 55,000 stands and exhibition space of 1.1 million sqm, with attempts to overrun the scale of the last session. This session divides the exhibits into 15 categories and shows them in 50 specialized sections. The details are as follows:

Phase 1 of the 105th session is from April 15 to 19, exhibiting 7 categories of Electronics & Household Electrical Appliances; Hardware & Tools; Machinery; Vehicles & Spare Parts; Building Materials; Lighting Equipment; and Chemical Products. It will have 17 specialized exhibition sections including Large Machinery and Equipment; Small Machinery; Bicycles; Motorcycles; Vehicle Spare Parts; Chemical Products; Hardware; Tools; Vehicles (Outdoor); Construction Machinery (Outdoor); Household Electrical Appliances; Consumer Electronics; Electronic and Electrical Products; Computer and Communication Products; Lighting Equipment; Building and Decorative Materials; Sanitary and Bathroom Equipment.

The International Pavilion will still be set up according to national and regional division in Phase 1 with 9 subsections and exhibition space of 15,000 square meters. The location will be changed from Hall 4.2 and Hall 5.2 in Area A to Hall 9.3 and Hall 10.3 in Area B.

The first interval is from April 20 to 23.

Phase 2 is from April 24 to 28, exhibiting 3 categories of Consumer Goods, Gifts, and Home Decorations. It will have 16 specialized exhibition sections including Kitchenware & Tableware; General Ceramics; Art Ceramics; Home Decorations; Glass Artware; Furniture; Weaving, Rattan and Iron Arts; Gardening Products; Stone and Iron Products (Outdoor); Household Items; Personal Care Products; Toiletries; Clocks, Watches & Optical Instruments; Toys; Gifts and Premiums; and Festival Products.

The second interval is from April 29 to May 2.

Phase 3 is from May 3 to 7, exhibiting 5 categories of Textiles & Garments; Shoes; Office Supplies, Cases & Bags, Recreation Products; Medicines, Medical Devices, Health Products; Food & Native Produce. It will have 17 specialized exhibition sections including Men and Women’s Clothes; Kids’ Wear; Underwear; Sports and Casual Wear; Furs, Leather, Downs & Related products; Fashion Accessories and Fittings; Home Textiles; Textile Raw Materials & Fabrics; Carpets & Tapestries; Food; Native Produce; Medicines and Health Products; Medical Devices, Disposables and dressings; Sports, Travel and Recreation Products; Office Supplies; Shoes; Cases and Bags.

In order to facilitate transaction and extend negotiation time, the daily closing time of this session will be changed from 18:00 to 19:00.

Canton Fair Complex, operated and managed by China Foreign Trade Centre, boasts the most advanced facilities and the most complete functions in Asia. Located at Pazhou Island in Guangzhou, the brand new Complex has 37 exhibition halls with exhibition space of 340,000 square meters, and it consists of Area A, B and C covering an area of more than 800,000 square meters and boasting a construction area of over 1.1 million square meters. In order to consolidate reform results and help buyers and exhibitors to cope with the severe economic situations, CFTC will give top priority to the overall upgrade of its exhibition service and quality for the 105th session of the Canton Fair, which aims to consolidate the success of holding exhibition in three phases and help both buyers and exhibitors to cope with the critical economic situation. This session of the Canton Fair will further optimize the individualized service for buyers, adopt real-name invitation to facilitate buyers’ visa application, reduce registration time for buyers and further promote the usage of IC entry card, and continue to organize the Buyers’ Cup-of-Joy Party and other activities to promote communication between buyers and exhibitors. This session of the Canton Fair will also further enhance supervision of the on-site construction and improve the air condition and environment of the Fair, optimize the guidance system of exhibition halls and install more escalators and sidewalks to improve traffic and help both exhibitors and buyers spend less time on transportation, and invest a substantial fund to establish a public WIFI network covering the whole Fair and restaurants, and bring the e-commerce service to higher level, optimize the overall arrangement of restaurants and introduce more varieties of food and improve the dining environment, etc.

China Foreign Trade Centre, an institutional unit directly led by Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, is entirely in charge of organization, management and undertaking of China Import and Export Fair (also known as the Canton Fair).
  • Coordinate and organize fair affairs; and establish temporary managing organization of the Canton Fair.
  • In charge of invitation and reception of overseas visitors and delegations, as well as maintenance logistics and security service of the Canton Fair.
  • In charge of construction and management of information system of the Canton Fair.
  • In charge of maintenance, innovation, extension of the complex and other related estate of the Canton Fair.
