Faced with diminishing funding and sponsorship for projects such as the Solar Spirit, tafeSA has had to take on a more commercial approach.

Funding and sponsorship is now limited so non-profits are either being forced to close or to find new ways to raise funds without relying on corporate sponsorship or the support of the public.

Solar Spirit relies on the funding of sponsors which recently have been Blackwoods, Stanley Black & Decker, Sidchrome and DeWalt and donations from the public to support the World Solar Challenge and the development of the world’s fastest Solar Electric Car.

Solar Spirit Australia launched their own online shop mid last year as a way to generate their own funds by selling their sponsors products and services. This initiative not only generates funds for Solar Spirit but also provides support to their sponsors.

By purchasing sponsor products and services on the Solar Spirit Online Shop the public can received big savings plus help contribute funds to the Solar Spirit cause to help tafeSA build their top class solar powered car by purchasing products and services from the Shop.

Without the support from the South Australian public, Solar Spirit would be a major loss to South Australia if enough funds cannot be raised.

The Solar Spirit Australia team will be at next week’s Caravan and Camping Show to display their talents and show the public how they can help generate funds for the project via their online shop.
