A hot pink life size horse to be painted in loud outrageous designs, is the feature of Horse SA’s Adelaide Fringe Festival “Horses on the Fringe” opening day celebrations.

The celebration, to take place in Rundle Mall this Wednesday 23 February, will provide an opportunity for pre-registered volunteers to help paint the design for a donation towards the community groups the project supports. No previous art experience is required.

The horse arts project will help raise funds for the not-for-profit groups of Horse SA, Riding for the Disabled and the RSPCA Queensland Flood Appeal through the painting, display of the finished horse and sales featuring the image until 6 May.

Regional artist Yvette Frahn will preside over the open air art project. Yvette has been recognised as one of South Australia’s inspirational women successful in business, as recently featured in the book “Lounge to Boardroom”.

“The pink horse promotes the Horses on the Fringe exhibition, which is a collection of more than a dozen artists who have a passion for horses” said Julie Fiedler, Executive Officer of Horse SA “The exhibition is now set to take place at Bonnetts Saddlery, Stepney”

Exhibition artists include Yvette Frahn, Ruth Flaherty, Ty Manning, Fiona Heysen (a grand-daughter of Sir Hans Heysen) and works by multi award winning Australian bush poet Max Merckenschlager available for sale on CD.

Karen Lownds, Liz Hirstle, Fiona Dowler, Judith Klavins, Lynette Franz, Ellyn Steyn, Leanne McCauley and jeweller Karen Ryder have works in the exhibition as do authors Karen Thrun, Jeri Kroll & Julie Buttery.

The finished art horse and the Horses on the Fringe exhibition will be on display at Bonnetts Saddlery 99 Magill Road, Stepney.
