Five weeks after the floods devastated Queensland, those who need it the most are actively drawing on the discounts available, contacting service providers and visiting furniture retailers to take up their offers listed at www.flooddiscounts.com.au, in droves.
The Flood Discounts site, a volunteer-run website centralising discounts for flood victims, has maintained its enormous interest with more than 22,000 pageviews over the past 7 days, and over 2500 unique vistors actively seeking discounts to help them. But we need to ensure all of the recent flood and disaster victims know about the discounts available.... so they can tap into them.
Can your media outlet assist us in spreading
the word about discounts being available to flood victims?
“With houses now reaching reconstruction, there are some areas of the site drawing great traffic. Building, Carpentry and Cabinetmaking, Electrical Equipment, Floor Covering and Home Furniture Categories are our highest ranking this week,” said Rebecca Wilson, Co-Founder of Flood Discounts.
Thankfully, the flood waters have subsided, but the efforts of businesses offering generosity to flood victims trying to rebuild has not. The Flood Discounts website has added more offers to the site over the recent weeks with some coming in well below cost price, and some items even free.
The site now offers discounts from more than 1500 stores and service providers in many more locations. It is being supported in the media with segments on 4KQ, 4BC, and advertisements in Quest newspapers, but we still need help from media and broadcasters in spreading the word to flood victims.
“CSR Gyrock’s offer of massive discounts on retail pricing and access to their licensed and registered installers is getting a lot of interest from visitors, as is Coles 10% Flood Relief in February offer, and VideoPro’s offer of cost price on all cameras, computers and TVs,” said Rebecca.
Recent discount additions to the site offering extraordinary value include Apricus Australia offering Hot Water Systems at almost no cost in partnership with Queensland Department of Infrastructure and Planning; Dick Smith Commercial offering cost price on all items for businesses; Barrys the Home Improvers offering an extra 30% off for flood victims and many many more.

Flood Discounts is a free listing website for businesses to offer legitimate discounts for flood victims. The site is built and managed wholly by volunteers and is completely not for profit. Founded and run by the teams at Stretch Marketing and Niche Studio, the site has grown to become a tasteful, logical way for businesses offering discounts to reach out to those who need them the most. Many of the discounts on the site will last right up until June 30 2011, allowing flooded residents to draw on the rebuilding supplies and services they need, when they need them.
