Dining in the village of Rutherglen is under a new reign with the opening of 'Mrs Brown' at The Victoria Hotel.

Journey through the front door of the hotel, past the grand staircase and into the newly updated dining room that is Mrs Brown - the beautiful high ceilings creating an airy and spacious atmosphere.

Sarah and Sean have renovated and renamed the dining room to accomodate diners seeking the royal treatment in Rutherglen. Chef Patron Sean Morris has developed a new menu for those who are looking for a night out in Rutherglen in a setting that boasts the grace and charm of a grand era in Rutherglen whilst enjoying good company, fine food and wine.

In the 1860's, devastated after the death of her much loved husband Albert, Queen Victoria increasingly relied on her Scottish manservant John Brown. Rumours of a romantic connection and even a secret marriage appeared in print and the Queen was referred to as 'Mrs Brown'. In light of the name of the hotel and the spirit of this story Sean and Sarah decided to name their new venture Mrs Brown.

Mrs Brown will be open on Friday & Saturday nights.

Bookings are essential call 02 6032 8610.

The Victoria Hotel - Rutherglen

The Victoria Hotel, is a Rutherglen icon.

This Heritage listed building has changed little over the past 140 years and is currently being renovated to reflect its former grandure. Think lofty ceilings, crackling fireplaces, gracious verandahs, beautiful stained glass windows and a traditional Australian front bar with tap and boutique beers. We also have an impressive list of Rutherglen wines.

Victoria Hotel is run by Sarah Pilgrim and Sean Morris who are currently renovating the hotel to reflect its former glory. The hotel offers accomodation, an award winning cycle concierge service and quality pub dining as well as more upmarket dining offer in the newly renovated dining room.

Leaving sleepy Fishguard in Wales, Chef Patron Sean Morris started his hospitality career in the kitchens of London's Claridges Hotel. After completing his training with London's Savoy Group Sean worked in the South of France where he caught the travel bug. Working in Food and Beverage management Sean travelled to Melbourne joining the Regent Hotel where he met his wife and business partner Sarah and started his love affair with Australia.

Together Sean and Sarah joined the Intercontinental Hotel Group and travelled through Europe, Africa and the Middle East managing hotels in Athens, Cairo and the United Arab Emirates. In settling back in Australia in 2006 the couple fell in love with The Vic and Rutherglen, and the hotels's potential to become one of Victoria's premiere food and wine destinations.
