First Digital Industry Event Will Connect Construction Leaders and Technology Innovators

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA -- (Marketwired) -- May 23, 2016 -- Aconex Limited (ASX: ACX), provider of a leading cloud and mobile collaboration platform for the global construction industry, today announced Construction Technology Summit 2016. The event is a first-of-its-kind industry forum that will connect Australia's leading contractors, developers and consultants with Australian digital construction technology innovators. Participants will explore how a range of emerging digital technologies will transform the construction, infrastructure and asset management sectors by boosting productivity, enhancing safety and quality, helping manage complexity and risk, and reducing delays and cost overruns.

The two-day event, scheduled for 16-17 June of this year, will be hosted by Aconex and the State Government of Victoria with support from the Australian Constructors Association (ACA).

"Thanks to a culture of innovation and collaboration that has driven the Australian construction industry, contractors and developers are working with founders of digital construction start-ups to deliver capital projects more efficiently," said Aconex CEO Leigh Jasper. "At the same time, Australian digital technology companies are building a new engine of growth for the country's economy. We are pleased to partner with the Victorian Government and the ACA to bring everyone together to examine innovative digital construction technologies, share our views on what's next, and cement the foundation of the emerging digital construction industry."

Transformation through Innovation

Mr. Jasper added that around the world, forward-looking construction and infrastructure project teams are adopting digital technologies that have transformed business practices across other industries. These technologies -- including the cloud, collaboration software, mobility, virtual modeling, big data, and the internet of things (IoT) -- help contractors, developers and consultants manage increasing project complexity and risk, new project delivery structures, and stricter regulation and compliance.

Construction industry adopters of these digital technologies are reporting profound improvement in the efficiency with which assets are designed, built, operated, and maintained over their lifecycle. Construction Technology Summit 2016 will explore the impact of new digital technologies and help set the direction of Australia's construction industry for the coming decades.

"We fully support Construction Technology Summit 2016 as a catalyst for organising the rapidly growing ecosystem of digital technology providers, buyers and users in the Australian construction and infrastructure industry," said John Flecker, president of the ACA. "The ongoing curation of this ecosystem will be a key factor in our country's future economic development."

Targeted Agenda for Industry Start-ups and Industry Leaders

The first day of the two-day event, 16 June, will feature a Digital Innovators Forum where entrepreneurs can gain insight into the art and science of forming partnerships, securing funding, developing successful products, and going to market in Australia and internationally. Day 1 will be held at the Investment Centre Victoria.

The Industry Summit & Expo will follow on the second day, 17 June, at the State Library of Victoria. Speakers will include David Banger, CIO, John Holland; Darren Scott, chief digital officer, Cisco; Paul Bassat, co-founder, Square Peg Capital; Leigh Jasper, CEO, Aconex; Teresa Engelhard, director, StartupAus, Redbubble and Daintree Networks; Niki Scevak, managing director, Blackbird Ventures; and Rob Malkin, sales manager, Strategic Asia Pacific Projects, Aconex.
