The 21st Annual Pride Festival is now underway. This year’s Pride Festival showcases a variety of events over 3 weeks including the Pride Film Festival, Theatre Performances, Cabaret shows, Cooking lessons and Community events.
The highlights of this year’s festival include tributes to Better Midler & Marlene Dietrich, discoINCORRECTO - Something different and a little bit wrong; a night of quality disco and vintage house with random entertainment and surprises in store.
ART AND COOKING
Ashley Brockman is back with another gender bending show, Bar Bitch Chew Art upstairs at the Rosemount Bar. Grab a group of friends and learn some new cooking skills with Sophie Budd at the Cooking Professor school in Mt Lawley; check out an art exhibition join in on ‘taster’ fitness bootcamp. This year’s Pride Film Festival brings to life the classic “Sound Of Music”. Watch the original 1965 movie and sing your hearts out. Other films include An Englishman in New York, Kiwi icons The Topp Twins, A Marine Story and Eating Out 3 to name only a few. Pride finishes its historic 21st year with the annual Pride Parade which travels through the streets of Northbridge on Saturday, October 30 2010. Crowds can expect a huge celebration of the progress Pride WA & the WA GLBT community have made over two decades.
The party does not stop on the street with The official Pride After Party, Neon Ballroom & a Women’s After Parade Party.
AFTER PARADE PARTY
Neon Ballroom will be held at Australia’s longest standing gay venue, Connections Nightclub, from 9pm. Neon Ballroom takes us back to the warehouse style parties with the Plaka building (adjacent to Connections Nightclub) being transformed into a Neon Wonderland, hosting four bars, two dancefloors, two stages and two open smoking areas. WOMENS AFTER PARTY
The Pride Womens After Party also held after the Parade will be held at the newly renovated The Bakery in Northbridge from 9.30pm.
