Keep your memories safe with Clickfree Wireless Backup
Sydney – 7 October 2010 – Today, Clickfree launched Clickfree Wireless Backup, giving customers the simplicity of Clickfree’s totally automated backup solution with the benefit of a wireless connection to computers.
With Clickfree Wireless, the customer doesn’t have to know anything about their wireless setup. You just plug- in the Clickfree device, all settings will be found and everything is done automatically. You can backup as many devices as you need including Windows, Mac, iPods, iPads and iPhones.
This summer more Aussies than ever will be taking digital photos, downloading music and shooting videos. They will be storing more and more on digital cameras, camcorders, laptops and smart phones with scant regard for how these memories could easily be lost if something goes wrong with their device.
This year hard-disk Camcorder sales increased 63 percent and each month we’re taking more than 110 photographs on our digital still cameras (source: Canon Consumer Digital Lifestyle Index 1st Half, 2010). As the storage capacity on our digital devices increases we save more files without a thought for how we could lose it all in a flash.
Fortunately, there’s a simple solution at hand. Clickfree’s new Wireless Backup makes it easy to automate backup of your computer and wireless devices.
Clickfree’s Australian and New Zealand Country Manager, Scott Dillon says “There are three ways disaster could strike this summer and suggests ways that Clickfree Wireless Backup can help out.
1. You lose a device.
According to the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association 4,000 mobile phones are reported lost or stolen each week. Increasingly they’ll contain photos and music files treasured by the owner. Unless they’ve been backed-up on a computer there’s little chance those memories will ever be returned. “With more and more people using their iPhones to take photos and video, an automated wireless back-up will ensure these memories are retained forever,” says Scott.
2. You lose track of what’s been saved where.
With so many different devices it’s easy to lose track of what’s saved where. In the first half of 2010 Australians each purchased 2.41 digital gadgets (source: Canon Consumer Digital Lifestyle Index 1st Half, 2010), so it’s no wonder we can’t remember what’s stored where. Scott says “the solution is to be better safe than sorry. Copy all files you are unsure about – even if it’s just to a temporary directory on your laptop – and have them included in your next scheduled Clickfree Wireless Backup”.
3. Your computer hard drive fails.
If memories do make it onto your computer, they’re still not safe. When you wipe your camera clean you are left with a single copy of each file and a failure of your computer hard drive could see years of photos, videos and music files disappear. “Imagine that” says Scott “records from a whole chapter of your life gone forever. Surprisingly few people backup their computer, even though it contains so much that is essential to our lifestyle. A regular scheduled Clickfree Wireless Backup acts as a catchall, collecting information from multiple devices as often as you ask it to.”
