Canberra resident Troy Dorosz has been an adventurer from an early age. But not just any type of adventurer; adrenaline is the name of the game for Troy, who pushes and challenges himself to the limit.

This November is going the extra mile to help support Australian men’s health charity the Movember Foundation. Not only will he be growing the iconic Mo he will also be cycling from Perth across to Sydney in a bid to raise funds, inspire and provide motivation to those currently affected by men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men.

Apart from the personal achievement in undertaking this ambitious ride, Troy is passionate about helping and inspiring people to push through physical and mental boundaries, and show what is possible in life.

The ride will be undertaken within 25 days and Troy plans to head off on the first day of November to help kick off fundraising for Movember.

The young athlete is excited to get on the road and has previously undertaken charity rides from Cairns to Melbourne. “I am always looking at new ways to expand my mind and the life that I live, I love adventure and what better way to get out and see the country whilst also raising funds for a really great charity” said Troy Dorosz.

The 2010 ride is the first step in a bigger journey for the young athlete whose ultimate goal is to break the Guinness World Record for fastest time to circumnavigate the world. Plan’s are well underway to meet this exciting goal, in addition to this year’s ride extra ‘training’ is to be done over 2011/2012 with cycling trips across New Zealand and the USA.

A sport event for different men's health issues.

Each year Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in Australia and around the world, with the sole aim of raising vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men.

Men sporting Movember moustaches, known as Mo Bros, become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November and through their actions and words raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo growing efforts. The rules are simple; register online at and start the month of Movember clean shaven, before growing a Mo.

Money raised in Australia is shared equally between programs targeting prostate cancer and male depression. Funds are committed to our men’s health partners, the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue – the national depression initiative and the Movember Foundation. Together, the three channels work to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world class programs in the fields of research, education, support, and awareness.
