Independently owned boutique stores from all over the world are linking into an innovative new online shopping website that connects 'real' shopping with shopping online.

Designed with a look and feel that reflects the quality, style and beauty of the stores it represents, is for boutiques that actually have a real premises as well as an online shopping website. Stroll The Arcade showcases boutique stores from across Australia along with Canada and the USA.

Among the first 220 stores to be featured are Sydney's Pink Zebra, Top 3 by Design, Peep Toe Shoes, Chez Chaz Jewellers, and Favourite Things Emporium. Melbourne's Catherine Manuell Design, Pepe's Paperie, and Body by Dainy Sawatzky. Scheuer Linen from San Francisco, Gravity Pope and Hip Baby from Vancouver, and Ponte Vecchio from LA. Stores from destinations such as New York, Toronto, Montreal, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Perth and Margaret River are also featured on the site.

Creator and director Susanne Hughes says the website aims to promote those Independently owned boutiques that keep our shopping districts unique. "These are the stores we love to find when travelling or on holiday," she said. "They're the stores that keep our shopping districts special, they're independently owned, many are family operated, and now more and more of them are providing online shopping."

Ms Hughes continued saying that with the mounting pressure of increasing overheads, and with the economic climate the way it's been the past few years, many boutique stores have been feeling the pinch with a quite a number having no choice but to count their losses and close the door. Stroll The Arcade connects boutique stores with the international online shopping market, helping them with additional revenue, which for some in the quiet times, may keep their 'real' store afloat.

"For shoppers it's a joy," said Ms Hughes. "The interface is easy to use and classic in design. It's an online shopping mall filled with gorgeous stores. You can browse a destination and see the stores that you'd find if you actually visited that location and shopped around, or you can shop by category, which makes particular items easy to find. There's fashion, homewares, jewellery, baby products, skincare, gourmet food, children's products, gifts and more."

Also featured on Stroll The Arcade are designers from famous market destinations such as Sydney's Paddington Market, Byron Market, Queen Victoria Night Market and Esplanade Markets in Melbourne, and Fremantle Market in Western Australia.

Ms Hughes said that people are choosing to shop with independent stores because it's a more personal experience, the quality is assured, and because they like to support businesses that are owned by families and people like you and me. By uniting online the store owners are supporting each other too, which ultimately helps to keep 'shopping on the street' locally owned and unique.

Stroll The Arcade

Stroll The Arcade is a shopping portal that showcases boutique stores from shopping destinations, worldwide. Every store on Stroll The Arcade is independently owned with an online shopping website. Some of these boutiques provide a platform for local and upcoming designers, whilst others stock reputable brands or have opened a Flagship store with their own designs. Stroll The Arcade also provides easy online access to designers from famous market destinations all over the world.

Rents and overheads are constantly increasing which makes it difficult for independently owned boutique stores to survive. Boutique shopping destinations and stores are becoming harder and harder to find.

Stroll The Arcade’s vision is to provide shoppers with easy online access to these stores. We promote that shopping online with independent boutiques helps to keep our towns and shopping districts unique. It also supports the newer designers making their way into the market.

At Stroll the Arcade we believe in ethical business practices and fair trade
for all people everywhere.
