South Australian company Zarloc will showcase the ROSS system, its award-winning employee rostering solution, to an anticipated 7,500 visitors as part of the Future of Retail Technology showcase at Retail 2010, to be held at Sydney Exhibition Centre from 20-22 September (

The ROSS team will demonstrate how to create rosters that save staffing costs by accurately matching shifts to sales demand. Also on show will be Zarloc’s latest innovation, its latest retail time and attendance solutions, including ROSS O’Clock, a pin-in/pin-out bundy time clock that feeds information directly into the ROSS system.
Zarloc CEO Rachael Skinner says that the ROSS system is ideal for retail businesses, including restaurants, hotels and supermarkets.

“ROSS helps a retail or restaurant manager to create the most cost-efficient rosters by matching shifts to sales demand hour-by-hour,” Ms Skinner explains. “It’s easy to calculate an accurate cost projection that matches sales data to calculate performance measures. You are guided through the system to make critical business decisions.

“We have saved one small restaurant group alone more than $100,000 a year in costs using ROSS.”

ROSS makes it easy to communicate rosters and share critical information with staff via SMS.  Once the week is finished, ROSS exports time and attendance data to accounting packages like MYOB.

What clients say about ROSS....
“The accuracy of forecasting compared to a paper or spreadsheet system has saved me $3000 to $4000+ per week across my six stores.”

“ROSS helps us realise productivity gains by helping us close the gap between target KPI’s and actual performance.”

“With ROSS we create a roster in 4-5 minutes. ROSS is not only a delight to use, the company provides fantastic support. I’ve literally received 5 minute turnaround times to any questions.”

Zarloc and the ROSS system

The ROSS System was developed by South Australian company Zarloc Pty Ltd, a G'day USA Innovation Shoot-out award winner. Zarloc was founded in 2003, specialising in helpdesk support and custom programming. The founder and CEO, Rachael Skinner, recognised the need for an easily accessible system for business owners and managers from a conversation with a contact who owned five restaurants in South Australia. Developed to help small and medium businesses (SMBs) to make the most of their staff, the ROSS system has seen major improvements based on feedback from Australian and New Zealand business owners and managers.  The company entered the Singapore market in 2009 and in 2010 ROSS continues to grow in markets such as Hong Kong, the United States and New Zealand.

The ROSS system is the only IPCA accredited roster software supplier for franchisees trading as Subway® in Australia and New Zealand.
