Dr Aryan Tavakkoli MBBS FRACP is a Doctor from the Hutt Valley in New Zealand who practices as a consultant physician in respiratory medicine. Dr Tavakkoli is in Brisbane over two nights on Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 September with her seminar Greening Up Your Workplace.

While people are taking steps to lead lives that are more environmentally friendly - recycling, buying green products, reducing fuel consumption – there is one change that they could make that would have a far greater impact on preventing the destruction of our planet.

“All of us are concerned about the future well-being of our children,” says Dr Tavakkoli. “It’s not just about eating locally grown organic produce, it’s about being part of the solution to help the Earth instead of eating into our children’s future.”

In an engaging and thought-provoking presentation, Dr Tavakkoli discusses the wide reaching effects of our dietary choices, from personal health, ecology and the environment, through to global issues including climate change and world hunger.

She presents evidence showing a direct link between our diets and global warming, the melting of polar ice caps, tropical deforestation and world hunger.

However she also describes the most influential way people can protect the environment. She will present data and research from the World Health Organisation, the United Nations and leading scientific journals, demonstrating the profound impact our diet has on our lives and on the life (and destruction) of our planet.

Dr Tavakkoli has written and spoken widely about these topics, and has presented talks in many venues around New Zealand. She has been interviewed about the link between diet and climate change by both local and national radio and newspapers.

On Tuesday 7 September she will speak in the back room of the Loving Hut Restaurant, 1420 Logan Road, Mount Gravatt (next to The Coffee Club).

The Loving Hut has recently been awarded 5 Stars as part of Brisbane City Council’s new Eat Safe Brisbane food safety scheme.

The following day, on Wednesday 8 September, she will speak at Albion Peace Centre, 102 McDonald Road, Windsor (under the Albion overpass).

Both events begin at 7pm and cost $10 or an affordable donation. Group bookings of over 10 people will be less.

Booking is required for each event and can be made by contacting 0412 775 678 or [email protected]
