Kickin4Kids, a fundraising campaign supporting Variety, helps kids with big physical challenges get mobile in our society. Local lad James Simpson, together with 9 others will leave Port River on 25th Oct 2010 on an adventure to Port Lincoln, show casing some of South Australia’s finest cost line. The end result being a TV documentary to be screen on channel 9 in January 2011. Hosted by channel 9 presenter Troy Gray this years participants will make the journey by across South Australia with many activities including – Kayaking, Trekking, Mountain Biking, Camel riding, Sailing, Quad Biking, Swimming with Tuna.

The campaign has raised over $600,000 over the past 3 years for wheelchairs, splints, standing frames, prosthetics, and other devices to help children gain mobility, freedom and independence. This year the aim is $250,000.

James 23, a business banker with NAB and part time personal trainer, got involved through the website and made it through the selection process. Since being accepted James has been busy raising funds in a variety of ways including – Golf day, Movie Nights, Personal Training, Muffin Runs & BBQs.

“so far it has been the journey of a life time and I haven’t even left yet. I’ve had the privilege of meeting some of the recipient families which will stick with me forever.”

Why did James get involved?

“I think we all get so busy in our lives that we can easily forget how tough others are doing it. I thought this was a great opportunity to give back to kids and their family’s who do it tough day in day out”
