With the "green" movement currently at the height of its popularity, there's never been a better time than now to start making changes in the way you interact with the world. One of the things that most of don't realize is that the way we operate our offices directly correlates with our impact on the environment. Between waste, energy and more, offices are capable of making or breaking one's ability to go green. With the increasing popularity of constructing green offices taking over, more and more methods for green office operation are being developed every day. Fortunately, there are plenty of small things one can do in order to help push their office towards a more green existence.

Shifting your office towards being green is best done in small steps, and the first few steps do not need to be even remotely difficult. Creating a green office is all about reducing waste, both of materials and energy. Since offices often go through a ton of paper and ink products, this is the natural starting point. In the hustle and bustle of daily work, employees often tend to forgo recycling and just throw their paper in the trash. By outfitting each workstation with a clearly labeled recycling bin, you can begin to curb these efforts.

One should attempt to get their employees to print as little as possible, as overprinting encourages waste. Also, rather than dumping harmful toner cartridges into trashcans, business owners should always take care to bring empty ink cartridges to a fill center, as they can recycle or refill the toner cartridges for you. This is often cheaper than buying new cartridges, and has a much lower impact on the environment. Seeing how most offices go through an awful lot of ink per year, this is a crucial step to take towards a greener office.

Offices should go green so as to help preserve the environment for generations to come. There are many small steps, such as using low VOC paints and installing solar power that can help you to do so. Help keep the planet green today!
