The faces and stories of some of the University of Adelaide’s most inspiring and exceptional women will be on display during a special International Women’s Day (Tuesday 8 March) exhibition at the University over the next two weeks.

Featuring staff and students from the University’s 140 year-history, the exhibition will include the likes of Edith Dornwell, the first woman in Australia to graduate with a Science degree, Dame Roma Mitchell, the first female judge in Australia and first female Governor of a State, and Dr Laura Fowler, the first woman to graduate from the University with a medical degree.

This exhibition is an initiative of the University of Adelaide’s Gender, Equity and Diversity Committee.

The University of Adelaide is also involved in research projects aimed at supporting women from a variety of backgrounds. These include a project led by Dr Suzie Newman, a University of Adelaide Global Food Studies researcher, which aims to improve the livelihood of female farmers living in Vietnam.
