Adelaide, Australia - The Water Industry Alliance (WIA) has honoured Optimatics' founders with its prestigious Chairman's Award. Professor Angus Simpson and Professor Graeme Dandy from the University of Adelaide were recognised for their key role as educators of the next generation of engineers and water industry participants. The WIA also acknowledged their instrumental role in the success of Optimatics, which it described as "one of South Australia's smartest water export success stories".
Presenting the award, WIA CEO Joe Flynn said that both men had helped build the future of the water industry's "intellectual grunt, and products that create a competitive advantage based on intellectual property".
Optimatics Chairman Don Horsell said that Optimatics was proud and delighted with the recognition provided to two of its founders and directors.
"In addition to the significant contribution made by Angus and Graeme through education, they have also been key to the success of Optimatics," Mr. Horsell said. "The company has its technology foundations in ground-breaking research at the University of Adelaide that began in the early ‘nineties with Angus and Graeme supervising the PhD thesis of Laurie Murphy on the topic of applying genetic algorithms to optimise water systems."
Optimatics now successfully exports its water systems optimisation solutions to water utilities and authorities throughout the world.
