The AusMumpreneur Awards, presented by the AusMumpreneur Network, celebrate and recognise Australian mums in business, achieving outstanding success in business excellence, product development, customer service, and digital innovation. The awards are designed to recognise the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their lives and families all whilst achieving success in competitive markets.

This year Simone Douglas, CEO of Social Media AOK, publican of the Duke of Brunswick Hotel and executive director of BNI Adelaide North has been announced as a finalist in the following categories

AusMumpreneur of the Year This award recognises exceptional business owners who have been in business 5+ years

South Australian Business Excellence Award This award recognises businesses that have achieved outstanding results in all aspects of business, including creativity, innovation, and resilience

South Australian Service Business Award This award recognises service-based businesses that have achieved outstanding results in all aspects of business, including creativity, innovation, and resilience.

Making a Difference Award (BUSINESS) Most popular business making a difference as determined by people’s choice voting

Leadership Award Most popular leader as determined by people’s choice voting

Simone Douglas is delighted to be named as a finalist and is proud of her achievements, not least of which has been keeping her twenty-five staff employed through the current COVID restrictions and disruption.

A well-known personality in the South Australian business community, Simone believes the key to success is to remember that the experiences of your life inform you but do not define you.

She has never let her experiences limit who she is or what she will achieve in her lifetime. Douglas says: "All of us have the capacity to choose when to end the story that we were given and to start writing our own."

She says success is open to interpretation, but believes she is a shining example of how you can have your cake and eat it too, if you just take the time to decide which cake flavour you want to eat.

In one of the most challenging environments to face a generation of business owners, Simone’s story is a great example of how businesses can weather the storm and come out the other side stronger than ever. Having recently released her first book, Seriously Social - Turning Your Online Game Into Real World Gain, Simone says the key to surviving the tough times is building strong and diverse networks within the wider business community, and not being afraid to call on those networks when help is needed.
