Perth security specialists, Crown Security, began life in 1994 as a single-operator concern. Today, 25 years on, the company boasts multiple employees and leads the way in cutting-edge electronic security, providing the latest safety measures to both the commercial and domestic market.

Security systems have changed dramatically over the past few decades, with today’s digital devices being virtually un-recognisable to the analogue systems that were commonplace both pre and post-millennium. When Crown Security was inaugurated in September 1994, security features, such as automation, access control and smart devices were still the realm of science fiction. Today, the company provides security solutions to customers, such as local government and the emergency services, that utilises cutting-edge technology to bring about the utmost in security for both property and personal safety.

Starting from an un-enviable position with the country in recession, the choice to work solely in the commercial space soon reaped dividends. With the mining boom beginning to take hold, the workload grew and the company expanded along with it. More staff were employed and the decision was made not to sub-contract, but to employ full-time security technicians. This flew in the face of what was then considered normal within the industry, and meant that Crown Security retained full control over the quality of the work carried out and the ability to guarantee installations of the highest standards. This proved to be a shrewd move and the business continued to grow.

More technicians were employed and, multiple office moves later, the hub of Crown Security is now housed in a purpose-built facility in Winton Road, Joondalup. These office moves certainly weren’t the only changes as the company diversified from solely serving the commercial market into the provision of security solutions to the domestic market. This includes servicing both existing residences and new-builds, the latter of which can be factory-fitted with advantages such as intruder alarms, access control systems, video intercom, CCTV and structured cabling. Other innovative home automation tools include pioneering technology such as theatre systems, multi-room audio, ducted vacuum systems, lighting and curtain/blind controls.

Such diversification has been instrumental in the growth of the company over the last 25 years, perhaps today more than ever as people are keen to future-proof devices installed within their homes and commercial premises. The advance of technology means that smart devices, integrated systems and full access control are becoming the gold standard for both commercial and domestic security, and increased affordability means more companies and individuals are able to take advantage of them.

Crown Security are keen to bring the latest in tech to the attention of their commercial and residential consumers, and say that, “While improvements in technology has not made the physical installation easier or cheaper, the cost of the systems has reduced in price dramatically. Coupled with the ease in which systems can now be linked together, the result is definitely more technologically advanced, and much more affordable.”
