Pearl Oyster Bar & Cafe, the new kid on the block amongst north west Tasmanian wedding venues, has won the wedding cake decorating competition at the Spring Wedding Fair in Devonport.
The wedding fair is held annually at Providore Place, and this was Pearl's first entry to the competition. Chef Natalie created a naked white chocolate mud cake, highlighting Australian native plants and flowers in the decoration.
"We're extremely happy to be showcasing our venue as a wedding destination, right in the heart of Devonport" said owner Paul Fielding. "We're excited to offer such a beautiful destination close to town; walking distance to most accomodation, CBD attractions and 'kick-on' venues."
Pearl Oyster Bar & Cafe held an exhibitors stall at the festival, offering couples the chance to sample canapes, browse wedding menus, and chat with the owners about their venue and wedding plans. As a relatively new venture, Paul and his wife Claire were keen to speak directly with couples and explain why they saw such potential in their venue.
"The cafe itself is located within the Bass Strait Maritime Centre Devonport" added Claire. "The sweeping lush surrounds and ocean views are really made for weddings." The ambitious couple were impressed with numbers through the wedding fair, dispite some inclement weather on the day.
