Sunday, April 21st, 2019 - Women Economic Forum Perth

The Women Economic Forum (WEF) is a global conference to foster empowering women and connections among women committed to facilitate constructive change in ALL walks of life.  The theme of Perth WEF will be ‘Empowering Women Making a Difference’.

For the very first time, WEF will be hosted in Perth between July 5 and July 8, 2019. As part of the event, Welshpool Rotary Club have funded a conference Scholarship Opportunity for women from developing countries that are striving to make a difference to others in their communities through their NFP, NGO or Social Enterprise.

The Welshpool Rotary Club is part of Rotary International a worldwide Not for profit organization which was formed in Chicago USA in 1905. Although a relatively small club with an active membership of only 19 the club raises funds via sausage sizzles, quiz nights and other activities to support ventures such as WEF Perth.

Carol Hanlon, CEO of Belmont BEC said, “I am thrilled that Welshpool Rotary Club will be enabling two deserving women from developing countries the change to attend WEF Perth and will announce this opportunity at WEF India. The scholarships will be made available for women who are striving to make a difference to those around them through their NGO’s or social enterprises.  This is a great initiative for those that are awarded these WEF scholarships to build ongoing linkages with Welshpool Rotary Club for future engagement. Welshpool Rotary Club has assisted us previously with freight donation towards our TCF Ormoc project, providing sewing machines and materials to assist livelihood community project in the Philippines”.

Ms Hanlon said, “We are still calling for sponsors, supporters, potential speakers and delegates to visit Perth and discover opportunities to meet and network with like-minded inspirational women, identify new business opportunities and take time after the Forum to experience WA’s natural attractions, gourmet foods and high-quality wines.”
