Adelaide incubator, The Moonshine Lab, is proud to release the speakers and program for SouthStart 2018, powered by Telstra, which aims to unite and connect start-up communities across Australia and the world. The two-day festival will deliver more than 30 entrepreneurs, innovators, technologists and leaders on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 November at Adelaide Town Hall.
The single-track format program includes a combination of TED-style talks, interactive panels and fireside chats of local and international speakers. The line-up includes Canva Co-Founder and CPO Cameron Adams; Fleet Space Co-Founder and CEO Flavia Tata Nardini; Uniti Founder and CEO Lewis Horne; and Sweat Founder and CEO Tobi Pearce.
Launching with the theme ‘Frontiers of the Future’, SouthStart will highlight the strengths and capabilities of South Australia with a focus on Artificial Intelligence, Future Mobility, Space Tech, Blockchain, Software as a Service (SaaS), and Internet of Things (IoT).
SouthStart Event Director, Craig Swann, said, “SouthStart aims to raise awareness and celebrate the incredible innovation that is happening in South Australia, while helping develop people and partnerships to attract interstate and international attention and investment.”
South Australian businesses will have the opportunity to be put in front of an invite-only audience of high net worth investors at a curated Investor showcase event on Wednesday 21 November which is supported by the Office of the Chief Entrepreneur South Australia.
Newly appointed Chief Entrepreneur for South Australia, Mr Jim Whalley, said, “Conferences like SouthStart are an important and fundamental component of our start-up ecosystem, providing the opportunity to showcase our entrepreneurs and start-ups to a national and international audience of mentors, thought leaders and investors.”
“Through the curated program of speakers, SouthStart will share the visions, learnings and experiences of amazing people building incredible companies from South Australia, Australia and abroad to ignite conversation and evoke inspiration,” Craig continued.
The opening night will be marked by a partnership with ‘Icebreaker18’, Flinders University’s New Venture Institute (NVI) speed-networking event to enable and accelerate introductions and connections between business, academic, investment and start-up communities.
SouthStart will take over Peel Street on Thursday 22 November for a free public street party that will be branded Startup Alley. The evening will consist of select hosted dinners themed to industries and technologies, live music hosted by Fresh FM and a few special surprises to help better connect and celebrate the Startup community.
There will also be a very exclusive Private Speaker dinner at Africola and post-event outing to d'Arenberg Cube and Star of Greece for SouthStart speakers, business and government leaders.
