WA State Trap (Down-the-Line) Clay Target Shooting Carnival - 8:30 AM on Saturday, 22 September 2018

The Western Australian Clay Target Association Inc. [WACTA] is delighted to announce that the Hon. Michelle Roberts MLA, Western Australian Minister for Police and Road Safety, will fire the first shot to open the WA State Trap (Down-the-Line) Clay Target Shooting Carnival at the International Shooting Complex in WA.  Also attending the opening will be the Federal Member for Moore, Ian Goodenough MP.

Athletes from all over Western Australia will gather to compete for five WA Clay Target Shooting State Titles, and the opportunity to represent their State at the National Clay Target Shooting Championships in Roma, QLD in 2019; their final goal being to represent Australia at the World Championships.

The State Trap Carnival is the premier event of the WACTA’s annual shooting calendar and commences at 8:30 AM on 22 September concluding on 24 September.  The events are contested by over 120 athletes, including some traveling from the Eastern States. 

The venue - the WA State Government sponsored, International Shooting Complex at Whiteman Park – will be buzzing with competitors, national and international sponsors with displays from Beretta Australia, Perazzi Australia, Winchester Australia and more.

The general public is invited to attend and witness quality competition from recognized State, National, and International shooters, and to see what a social and family-oriented sport Clay Target shooting is.

The Western Australian Clay Target Association Inc. [WACTA] is the State body that supports and administers the sport of Clay Target Shooting in Western Australia.  It is a not-for-profit, self-funded Association which accesses some WA State Government assistance where available, and sponsorship. 

The Association has an Executive council comprised of President, Vice President, Immediate Past President, Seven Zone Delegates, ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) Delegate, Australian Clay Target Association (ACTA) Delegates, Sports and Recreation Delegate, Rules Supervisors, State Handicapper, Member Protection Officer, Director of Coaching, State Secretary and State Treasurer.

WACTA has thirty affiliated Clay Target shooting clubs and every member of these clubs must be affiliated through the WACTA and the ACTA.

WACTA promotes a healthy, family-oriented, and inclusive atmosphere at all our venues, supporting our member athletes and their clubs.
