This weekend Australia-wide free speech rallies for Tommy Robinson, Sonia Kruger and others persecuted for speaking about Islam will be spearheaded by Avi Yemini and ALA President Debbie Robinson.
The Australian rallies coincide with a central rally in London, where thousands are expected to protest at Whitehall. Concerned citizens around the world use social media and rallies to demand the release of UK journalist and political activist Tommy Robinson and an end to what they see as oppression of free speech, akin to blasphemy laws.
Tommy Robinson (legal name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon) was arrested on 25 May outside a UK court on charges of breaching the peace, while reporting live about a grooming gang trial. On the same day, Robinson was stood before a judge and immediately sentenced to 13 months. His supporters consider Robinson a political prisoner at the hands of a UK government increasingly desperate to supress the true extent of Islamisation.
The current case of Sonia Kruger and past persecutions of Bill Leaks, the QUT students, Andrew Bolt and others under so-called ‘hate-speech’ laws, are seen as part of a general crack-down on the basic human right of freedom speech at the behest of strong OIC lobbying.
The rallies have been called by Australian Liberty Alliance. This political party was launched in late 2015 in Perth with Dutch Member of Parliament Geert Wilders and UK politician Anne Marie Waters. Both Wilders and Waters are to speak at the London protests on Saturday.
On Saturday 9 June and Sunday 10 June, at UK Consulates in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, Australians will voice their outrage over increasingly oppressive methods of governments and the judiciary to shut down critical debate about Islam.
Ralf Schumann, the party secretary of ALA, wrote in an email to members: “Freedom of expression is a universal human right. We pay our politicians, police and judiciary to uphold and defend this basic human right, not to suppress it and persecute those who speak out about a perverse ideology.” Details of the rallies are:
MELBOURNE: Saturday 9 June, 10:00am at 90 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000
SYDNEY: Saturday 9 June, 3:30pm at 1 Macquarie Pl, Sydney NSW 2000
BRISBANE: Sunday 10 June, 9:00am at 100 Eagle St, Brisbane City QLD 4000
PERTH: Sunday 10 June, 4:30 pm at 251 Adelaide Terrace, Perth WA 6000
According to social media, similar rallies are held in Adelaide, Canberra, Townsville and Darwin by local groups not connected to ALA.
