October 1, 2015 marks the 25th anniversary of International Day of Older Persons (IDOP). Provider Assist together with Seed Education, will be celebrating the day with the launch of The Wisdom Project, an ongoing cross generational project aimed at immortalising the advice of our older generations.
The project encourages older Australians to record a video sharing the advice they would give to their younger selves. The submitted footage will then be uploaded to a website where the collected knowledge is stored and shared.
Behind the initiative is Provider Assist, one of Australia’s leading providers of income and management solutions for the Aged Care industry and Seed Education, the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) behind The Personal Care Mastery program, the leading program for people wanting to enter the Aged Care Industry.
“In our work we are privileged to be constantly reminded of the incredible amount of wisdom and life experience that older Australian’s have. Sadly, we find that this wisdom isn’t harvested and that the opportunities to learn from past generations are being wasted”, said Provider Assist COO Victoria Kelly.
“Modern technology has made it easier than ever to record and share the wisdom that comes with aging. Using modern technology is also a great way to bridge generational gaps and bring older and younger people closer together. Coming together and sharing stories is what it’s all about”, said Victoria Kelly.
The project will launch on October 1 at www.ProviderAssist.com.au/WisdomProject under the hashtag #TheWisdomProject and #IDOP2015
