Sutherland Police are inviting members of the community to attend a free community engagement day at Menai next week.

The event will be held at Parc Menai, in Allison Crescent, Menai, next Wednesday (23 September 2015) during the school holidays.

Between 10am and 2pm, Sutherland Shire youth networks of both government and private organisations will have displays running.

The displays will have information on cyber and online safety, Sutherland Shire youth projects and general safety tips.

The event is aimed toward children under the age of 18, however, there will be things to see and do for all age groups.

Various NSW Police Local Area Command's will have on display sponsored vehicles from Lake Illawarra (Audi RS4), Harbourside (Porsche 911) and Castle Hill (Mercedes-Benz C200), while Sutherland Police will display their recently purchased All Terrain Vehicle and trail bikes.

Sutherland LAC's Youth Liaison and Crime Prevention Officers will be on hand answering local questions and issues. Specialist police from the Mounted Unit, Traffic & Highway Patrol Command, Marine Area Command and Dog Unit will also be in attendance.

Police will be joined by other emergency services; including State Emergency Service, NSW Fire & Rescue and Rural Fire Service. These officers will offer displays, demonstrations and important information about emergency situations and the upcoming bushfire season.

There will be live reptile displays hosted by a local business; which involves snakes, lizards, crocodiles, turtles. This display will help educate people about how to treat animals over the warmer months.

There will also be live music, and food and drinks will be available for the crowd.
