Toyota has emerged the clear winner in a survey seeking to find Australia's favourite car brand amongst entrants of competitions.
Well over 100 cars are given away each year as competition prizes. CompetitionsGuide.com.au Marketing Director, Craig Seitam ran the survey to challenge competition promoters' choice of cars, which he believes are mostly driven by opinions and personal choice.
According to Craig, "We took 20 recently promoted car brands, placed them in alphabetical order and asked one simple question. Which brand of car would you most like to win?"
1602 unique paying subscribers took part in the survey. Toyota came 1st and received 255 votes (15.9%), 93 votes ahead of 2nd place Audi.
"Audi was a real surprise", Craig stated. "Mercedes is by far the most featured luxury car brand, especially with charity lotteries, yet it came in 6th place."
Other unexpected results were Range Rover (3rd) and Land Rover (7th), both of which rarely feature in competitions.
"Holden and Ford are still considered Aussie Classics, and feature heavily as competition prizes", Craig added. "Yet they achieved a combined score of 7%, well below cheaper brands such as Mazda and Hyundai."
An unexpected result was the vote count of the bottom two brands. Craig explained "In February we had four competitions for Fiat and two for Renault. Both finished on the bottom with a combined score of 0.75%."
Craig hopes that the survey results may prompt some competition promoters to give more cars as prize options. "Cars are one of the most valued prizes amongst our members, and there's a lot more traction in offering two or three modestly priced models as a prize, rather than one super-luxury brand."
