Carol Hanlon, CEO of  Belmont Business Enterprise Centre Inc. (Belmont BEC | BEC Global), Textile Clothing Footwear Resource Centre of WA Inc. ( TCF Australia | TCF Global), the  BPW Business Incubator Projects and in conjunction with BPW Western Australia (BPW WA) will present a NGO Forum during UN CSW62, New York, in March 2018.

The sixty-second session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 12 to 23 March 2018. Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world are welcome to attend the session. The Priority theme this year is ‘Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls’.

Ms Hanlon will present the following forum, which is being sponsored by TCF Global, BEC Global and BPW WA:

The ‘Economic Empowerment of Rural Women Entrepreneurs through Online Business Incubation Forum’ will showcase TCF Global, BEC Global and BPW Business Incubator ‘Online’ Business Incubation projects delivering small business training & mentoring to women entrepreneurs; retirement income planning; global fashion opportunities; energy efficiency and social enterprise projects. 

Forum highlights will include insights from Rural Women Entrepreneurs & Social Enterprise Projects from:

Malaysia - Iban Weavers, Limbang, Sarawak - basket weaving project presented by Sarimah Sabudin, BPW Malaysia

Cambodia – Lotus Silk, Vannary San – silk accessories & apparel produced from organic Cambodian golden silk yarns

Iran – Peivande Gole Narges Charity Organization, Karaj & Tehran – producing handmade organic quince teas

Philippines – TCF Ormoc, Leyte Province – social enterprise village sewing centres & dealing with natural disaster

Australia - Kirrikin, Amanda Healy - Indigenous contemporary artworks feature on luxury accessories for women & men

Australia – Camelman, Jayne Mayne, Nth West WA – remotely based designer creator of camel skin apparel

Australia - Desert Gem, Vattessa Colburg, Kalgoorlie – Aboriginal designer creating artisan accessories & fashion

APEC Economies – Chinese Taipei, Republic of Korea, The Philippines, Chile and Australia featuring feedback from women entrepreneurs who participated in the BPW Business Incubator Online Training & Mentoring Project

The NGO CSW Forum gives non-government organisations from around the world the opportunity to discuss issues pertaining to women and girls, to network, share strategies/good practices, and to lobby governments to implement resolutions and treaties.

Carol Hanlon has an extensive 24year record of delivering small business development programs for the benefit of women across Australia and Internationally. Carol was an Australian Government delegate at the 2012 APEC Women Economy Forums, Russia, APEC 2013 Indonesia, APEC 2015 Philippines where Carol was recognised in the Iconograph Exhibition ‘Women Icons of APEC’ and APEC 2017 Vietnam.  She was also invited by the NGO Forums at United Nations CSW55, CSW56, CSW59, CSW61 to deliver forums on women and business empowerment. Carol was inducted in the Inaugural 2011 WA Women’s Hall of Fame for her passion and commitment with micro small business owners to achieve their business dreams. 

Carol Hanlon said, “For two weeks in March, the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) turns the focus of the United Nations towards women and gender related issues worldwide. This year there was a record-breaking number of applications from organisations around the globe wanting to present at the parallel events (over 500!).I’m honoured to have been invited to present a forum in the NGO CSW Forum”

Ms Hanlon will also deliver 3 sessions in The Hague, Netherlands for the Women Economic Forum on March 8th, which is also International Women’s Day which is celebrated around the globe the achievements of women.
