AGANA, GUAM--(Marketwired -
Jul 20, 2015) - "Going
Green" no longer applies to the implementation of
environmentally-conscious construction efforts exclusively. Across the US,
medical marijuana laws have made cannabis available for the treatment of an
assortment of health conditions. Several states, Washington and Colorado, and
Alaska have legalized the recreational use of cannabis. Across the Pacific, US
territories in Micronesia are beginning to take similar steps in consideration
of marijuana legalization; Federated States
will be the first to pursue this economic game changer.
In 2013, Cary Peterson, a Senate lobbyist and recently appointed Chairman of the Eurasia-America Development Program (EADP), began working in diplomacy for Albania (nicknamed Europe's cannabis capitol) about the implementation of medical marijuana-freedoms in US territories and Cuba. Last year, while speaking to delegates of the United Nations, Peterson made an intervention statement about the difficulties of creating new development for education, agriculture, and tourism in small island nations as Micronesia.
- "There were many times where stakeholders and associates wanted to give up and quit or abandon the civil society program due to lack of cooperation, communication, and support from the governments."
- -Cary Lee Peterson states in statement made at the United Nations meeting for Small Island Development States.
Peterson's statement exemplifies how
long the process of obtaining the gravely-needed CBD approval in Micronesia has
been in the works. He went on to advocate, "Education is, first and
foremost, the most important elements." His diction shows how education
about marijuana is far more effective than mass hysteria, as seen far too often
when minuet possession of cannabis results in extensive incarceration. However,
Peterson's thoughts have a profound impact on how society perceives the recent
Department of Justice decision.
Essentially, the EADP's members -- the US participating states, U.N. and E.U. affiliated non-governmental organizations, local and national government in Federated States of Micronesia and Albania -- will benefit from the July 3rd decision to take final steps to proceed. When presented with the new found legalization of cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive component of cannabis -- Peterson had this to say:
"This is a major achievement for the US, Micronesia, Albania, and the entire world. FSM will be the first of all U.S. affiliated territories and countries in the Asia-Pacific region to legalize CBD and we're very blessed to do more to help the people of Micronesia. We have only begun and under God's Will, I feel that today is the beginning of a new and more prosperous Micronesia."
