Winners to be awarded at a range of conferences across Australia’s capital cities

Women and Leadership Australia (WLA) is proud to announce the 2015 winners of the Australian Awards for Excellence in Women’s Leadership.

The award recognises the contribution of an individual in elevating the visibility and importance of Australian women receiving equitable access to higher levels of leadership across all industry and organisations.

Dame Quentin Bryce is bestowed with the honour of receiving the national award for 2015, recognised for her role as Australia’s first female Governor-General, and invaluable contribution to advancing human rights and equality, the rights of women and children, and the welfare of the family.

Around Australia, state level winners of the awards for 2015 are:

 - Michelle Bridges (NSW)
 - Janine Allis (Victoria)
 - Terri Irwin AM (Queensland)
 - The Hon. Julie Bishop MP (WA)
 - Natasha Stott Despoja AM (SA)
 - Senator Christine Milne (Tasmania)
 - Peta Credlin (ACT)
 - Clare Martin (Northern Territory).

Winners are accepting their awards at the Women’s Leadership Symposium series across Australia’s capital cities. The events are Australia’s premier annual gathering for women in leadership. The events are set to take place in Brisbane (28/29 May), Sydney (10/11 June), Adelaide (2 July), Melbourne (14/15 July), Darwin (23 July), Canberra (21 August) and Hobart (4 September). In accepting her award, the Hon. Julie Bishop MP stated that “I am delighted to accept the Western Australia Award for Excellence in Women’s Leadership and I congratulate all National, State and Territory winners. I also congratulate WLA on eleven years of empowering more than 60,000 Australian women at various levels of leadership through developmental programs and events.”
