Layne Beachley’s Aim for the Stars Foundation has this week awarded $90,000 to girls and women across Australia to help them realise their dreams in academic, sport, business, environmental and community pursuits. The girls were selected from over 1,000 applications received from around the country.
The initiative, passion and dedication of applications this year was both outstanding and inspiring. The Aim for the Stars Foundation has awarded scholarships to applicants who they believe not only best demonstrated their aspirations to succeed in their chosen pursuit but to those girls and women who were best able to articulate how financial support and mentoring were crucial to their on-going development.
The scholarship recipients for 2015 range from an Indigenous Nurse, a Theatre Director, a kayaker to a Motor Racer.
‘Aim for the Stars’ Scholarships are broken down into five State groups:
- New South Wales/Australian Capital Territory
- South Australia/Northern Territory
- Western Australia
The Foundation has awarded Scholarships in each region. Recipients will receive both mentoring from Layne and a financial grant in accordance with the following amounts:

“I am able to inspire and motivate women across Australia to dare to dream, pursue their passion and aspire to achieve. We support women with initiative and dedication, that are committed to achieving a dream and courageous enough to ask for assistance along the way. We believe in enabling young women to fulfil their potential and we encourage and support them on their journey. My support will give females the opportunity to maintain a determined focus on their goal.”
