Carol Hanlon, CEO of non-profit organisations Belmont Business Enterprise Centre Inc. (Belmont BEC) and Textile Clothing Footwear Resource Centre of WA Inc. (TCFWA), has been invited as an honorable guest and Keynote Speaker to the 2014 Chinese Taipei APEC Conference: Utilizing ICTs to Empower Women Entrepreneurs on the 28th and 29th of October.
Since the Multi-Year Project (also known as MYP) of “Innovation for Women and Economic Development: Facilitating Women’s Livelihood Development and Resilience with ICTs” was passed by APEC Budget and Management Committee (BMC) in June 2013, Chinese Taipei has launched a baseline inventory on the programs of “Using ICT tools to assist female to establish an enterprise or expand business operation” with partner economies, such as Chile, Republic of Korea, and the Philippines. The first-year research results are expected to be presented at the upcoming conference, which aims to facilitate the sharing of case studies on how partner economies of our MYP and other organizations/companies use ICT innovations to develop women’s business opportunities.
Carol Hanlon will deliver a Key Note speech at the APEC Conference titled:
‘Empowering Women in Business through ‘Online’ Training & Mentoring’

Ms Hanlon said of the opportunity to deliver a key note speech at the international conference, “I will be giving an update on our successful ‘BPW Business Incubator ONLINE Training & Mentoring Project’ which delivers small business training to over 700 women in business in Australia, partly supported by the Australian Government through the Small Business Advisory Program (SBAS). In addition we have also launched the ‘BPW Business Incubator ONLINE Training & Mentoring APEC Project’ which will provide online training & mentoring to 20 small business women from APEC economies such as Korea, Chile and the Philippines. Via these projects and our other projects with Belmont BEC, TCFWA, and TCF Global we are able to help develop business skills and business growth potential for women in small business internationally.”
Ms Hanlon will also attend the “International Forum on Women’s Innovative Economy Development: Rural Women, Aboriginal Women and Social Enterprise” on October 27, 2014.
