Adelaide’s Rick Carter, co-author of The Grumpy Old Manager’s Guide to Social Media, will host a free 60-minute seminar: “Is Social Media Right For You?” at Chapel Lane Studios, Hindmarsh, SA, on April 15.

The co-host of Your Business 2.0 with colleague Robert Godden, Rick is passionate about encouraging Adelaide’s business community to get involved in social media.

In this entertaining and informative session, participants will learn the "Why, What, How and Who" of social media...with a practical focus on understanding what Facebook, blogs, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube can do for business.

"Whether you call it social media or consumer generated content, there's no debate over the accelerating popularity of Internet sites and forums where consumers share opinions and experiences about every product and service," Rick says. "From blogs and podcasts to wikis and social networks, social media allows consumers to rate and review products, advise fellow consumers and even make their own commercials praising or bashing brands and businesses. Do you want to be left behind?"

Rick’s background cuts across technology, marketing and sport. He has worked with multinationals like Dun & Bradstreet Software as well as managing personalities and sports stars such as pole vaulter Tatiana Grigorieva to develop their brands and business strategies. Over the past five years he has built a successful marketing and communications business with a strong focus now in Digital Media and Marketing.

As a result, he has the technical industry knowledge from working in the IT Industry for 25 years...The new media knowledge from his recent focus...The heritage media (Radio, TV, Print) knowledge from working in Sports and Celeb management...and the brand building knowledge from working with some of the best athletes and new products in the world.

And others agree…

“Rick is #1 at social media - the guru of the Internet. Within 5 minutes of meeting him the world of social media exploded onto our business - great results within days!” Alexander Ouwens, Director, Club KI - Kangaroo Island Holiday Accommodation

“I met Rick Carter at a presentation he gave at Australia Live TV studio on Social Media Marketing and I was blown away by the amount of knowledge he had. I now focus my advertising and Marketing very cost effectively on the Digital Channels available via the Internet. A million thanks Rick!” Marilyn Goodwin - Author and Publisher

Rick and Your Business 2.0 colleague Robert Godden will also be running Social Media Professional Development sessions including Your People + Social Media – Opportunity or Disaster from April 20th.
