The Australian Country Alliance says it is looking for the right person to help Mildura become a marginal seat at November's state election.
Upper house candidate, Rob Danieli, said the party is looking to do what it can for the region such as getting grower elected representation on water boards, a full industry led review of agricultural inspections, levies and costs, a passenger rail service to Mildura and better road infrastructure
"At the moment, this won't happen while the Coalition takes Mildura for granted and Labor isn’t interested in fighting for it.”
"We want to make Mildura marginal, and just need the right person to help offer a stronger alternative than they have now.”
Mr Daneili said party officials have had discussions with a number of senior local figures who would all have made great candidates over the past couple of years, but they have each had commitments preventing them from committing to standing at the election.
"So, our search goes on.  This is a unique opportunity for the right person to stand up on issues of local importance in a seat that could affect the outcome of the election."
He said anyone interested in running for the party at November's election should visit its website at ,” he said.
