Tasmanian coaches will learn about the brain's role in success or failure at Australasian Coach Week events (24 to 29 May).

Neurolinguistic programming (NLP) expert Kendra Strudwick will talk about the neuroscience behind coaching.

"Internal, neurobiological threats often hijack our goals," Ms Strudwick said. "My goal in this talk will be to impart the latest neuroscience research to improve thinking and ignite passion."

Ms Strudwick has a background in nursing and clinical education. She holds Master Certification in NLP and hypnosis and uses a wide range of resources to get results for her clients, including Pepsico, Saba, Cadbury and Bankwest.

Coach Week Tasmania co-organiser Donna Brown said that Kendra is known for her creativity and enthusiasm.

"She uses a brain based approach to her coaching, and helps clients to understand the neuroscience driving performance," Ms Brown said.

"Kendra works with leaders from all walks of life, assisting them to take their lives and leadership to the next level."

Ms Brown added: "In this time of continuous social change, CoachWeek provides an exciting opportunity for all Tasmanian coaches, related professionals and members of the community to be involved in thought provoking activities."

International Coach Federation Australasia Coach Week

International Coach Federation Australasia (ICFA) Coach Week is an annual weeklong celebration of the coaching profession, this year to be held during the week 24 to 29 May.

Originally founded in 1999 by ICF member Jerri N. Udelson, MCC, Coach Week is a designated time each year for coaches and clients to educate the general public about the value of working with a professional coach and to acknowledge the results and progress made through the coaching process.

During this extended commemoration, coaches around the world offer a variety of activities and pro bono services in their local communities to share what coaching has the ability to do.

10 local areas around Australia and New Zealand will be holding events and activities to celebrate Coach Week commencing 24 May 2010.
