As Director of Communications at the UK Government’s Department for Business, Russell Grossman heads up a wide-ranging team charged with creating confidence among business to thrive and grow, as the economy picks up in the northern hemisphere.

Russell Grossman is currently charged with raising competence and capability among the 4,400 communicators in the UK public service on the back of an 18 month review of whole-of-Government communications. This includes replacing a ‘press release by default’ approach with a ‘digital by default’ approach, delivering greater integration across units and portfolios, improving how communications activities are evaluated, and prioritising continuous development for the workforce.

Russell believes the work underway in the UK’s public sector has the potential to become a model for best practice, particularly across large, complex and multi-faceted organisations, and he will share his team’s learnings and practical advice at this fascinating lunchtime seminar.

Russell’s career highlights include a seven year stint as Head of Internal Communications at the BBC, and he is recognised internationally as an internal communication expert. In addition to being Director of Communications for the UK's Department of Business, Russell is an international speaker and Vice Chair of the IABC Executive Board.
