Leading training and event venue provider Cliftosn has called for submissions to its 13th annual Cliftons Art Prize competition across Asia Pacific
More than 700 artists are expected to submit their works for a chance to gain international exposure and share in $28,000 in prize money
The annual art competition supports local artists and encourages corporate patronage of the arts across Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Since 2001, the Cliftons Art Prize has attracted established and emerging artists across Asia Pacific. Entries are submitted online via the Cliftons Art Prize website during the term of the competition, where a panel of independent judges review the artist submissions. Short listed artists are invited to exhibit their submissions at Cliftons CBD locations across Asia Pacific and form part of the online exhibition, last year visited by over 250,000 international art lovers. One winner at each of Cliftons ten venues will be awarded AUD$2,000 and the overall Cliftons Art Prize winner awarded AUD$10,000 as well as receiving invaluable exposure via Cliftons’ broad network of corporate event venues.
“The annual Cliftons Art Prize offers an exciting platform for artists to showcase their talent whether it be through painting, sculpture, drawing or photography. With the addition of an online exhibition entrants’ works can now be viewed by a larger audience than ever before, and in our venues across Asia Pacific short-listed works help create a mentally stimulating environment to enhance the experience of event attendees. The quality of artwork submissions in the past has been impressive and we are truly looking forward to receiving the 2014 entries in the upcoming months,” said Andrew Cameron, Cliftons Managing Director.
The state and regional Cliftons Art Prize winners will be announced in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Wellington, Auckland, Hong Kong and Singapore at awards evenings in each location on 3rd July 2014.
An international panel of prominent judges will select the winners of the competition. Returning to the judging panel are Tim Abdallah, National Head of Art, Menzies Art Brands; Ian Hamlin, President, New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts and Hong Kong based art critic, curator and writer, John Batten. In 2014, Australian Art Curator at the Gallery of NSW, Denise Mimmocchi, will be joining the panel for the first time.
Submissions opened today, 17th December 2013 and the deadline for submissions is 4th April 2014, 5pm local time. Finalists and winners will be selected from artworks submitted online via www.cliftonsartprize.com.
