A celebration of creativity and innovation featuring 16 of New York City’s best startups competing to win over $25,000 in cash & prizes.

New York - December XX, 2013 - NYC’s largest coworking space, AlleyNYC, is teaming up with powerhouse media & technology partners to present the first ever Startup Battles Pitch Competition. Hosted By DJ Cipha Sounds of the Hot 97 Morning Show the Battle kicks off this coming Tuesday, December 17th from 7pm-10pm headquartered right at AlleyNYC and sponsored by Mad Mimi. The event will feature 16 of New York City’s hottest startups competing against one another for a grand prize of over $25,000 in cash & prizes. The competition’s panel of judges features celebrity guest, Romany Malco, who played  “Jay” in Judd Apatow’s box-office hit The 40 Year Old Virgin and “Conrad” in the Showtime series Weeds.  Malco will be joined by Joy Marcus, Managing Director of DFJ Gotham and Dave Mathews, who was involved in the early stages of Boxee and Slingbox.

“We pulled this event together as a celebration of the creativity and innovation that’s happening in our community. We’re excited to have people like Romany Malco, Cipha Sounds and our media partners involved to shine a light on these great companies who are providing unique solutions that will change our world as we know it,” says Haithem Elembaby, AlleyNYC’s Director of Events. The New York startup scene has been buzzing more than ever anchored by high profile acquisitions of companies like Tumblr (acquired by Yahoo!) and Instagram (acquired by Facebook). As more and more products are built in collaborative environments, new roads are paved for younger entrepreneurs to make an impact. "It's not just about making it. It's about making it in a way that empowers those who come after," says Romany Malco.

The next big thing is right around the corner; and New York City is in a prime position to lead the next generation of technologists and innovators. Through the many different platforms that have been made available, entrepreneurs from all walks of life are given a unique opportunity to come together at events like these to celebrate the mission of entrepreneurship and independent thinking.

AlleyNYC is a 16,000 square ft. entrepreneurial hub located in Midtown Manhattan. Our aim is to help our startups bridge the gap between their innovative ideas and becoming a stable business establishment. This is where human talent, ingenuity, and sourcing capital come together.
