Sutherland LAC's annual major community engagement event and road safety initiative named "Sutho Cops & Rodders Road Safety & Car Show" is now in its 3rd year.

On Sunday, 10 November 2013, the event will be held at Boys' Town Playing Fields, Woronora Rd, Engadine, from 9.00am.

Senior Constable Dave Hayes from Sutherland Local Area Command said the aim of the event is to reduce road trauma through the promotion of safe driving.

"We do this by utilising displays and exhibits that demonstrate the impact road trauma has on our family, friends and the greater community."

"We will have drivers from the V8 Supercars, V8 Utes and GT3 Challenge Cup coming along to sign autographs, and we also have their race cars on display", said Senior Constable Hayes.

Sutho Cops and Rodders "They will be joined by other special guests and some fantastic Supercar fun including Australia's only V8 Supercar simulator, Shannon's Insurance Super Rig, and NRMA's vintage fleet will all roll in".

"Emergency service personnel will be displaying a mock rescue demonstration involving real people in 'real' scenario's, where motorists will have 'real' injuries in an extrication rescue" he said.

The CareFlight helicopter will land and open their doors to the public, and entertainment will be provided by the popular groups 'Schlam', and 'Dirty Deeds'.

The Sutherland PCYC Concert Band and St George & Sutherland Shire Pipe Band will also play on the day.

The RAAF Military Dog Unit will again be 'flying' through the "Rings of Fire" and over obstacles. The Air Force Hot Air Balloon will again tether, giving a 'birds-eye view' above the ground. Children can enjoy amusement rides, simulators and educational activities.

The Australian Army will be attending with their drag and burnout vehicles, Armageddon and Project Digger. The oval will be filled with classic and modern vehicle exhibitors, race vehicles and drag vehicles.

For a $20 entry fee, all car entrants will receive a commemorative t-shirt, ‘goody’ bag and a free raffle ticket toward our monster raffle. Last year, the committee gave away $14,000 worth of prizes!

Positions are filling fast and are capped at 500 car exhibitors. All exhibitors must be pre-registered.

Any surplus monies raised will be given to our major beneficiary, CareFlight.
