The City of Subiaco invites you to come along and dance to the beat of the Chameleon Brass Band, who is featuring in the second last [email protected] summer concert.

This free musical event takes place on Sunday 28 February from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at Lake Jualbup, corner Herbert Road and Lake Avenue, Shenton Park.

The Chameleon Brass Band is one of the most creative and funky brass bands around. Their performances range from an unamplified roving musical style, to staged spectaculars that are drawn from the great jazz traditions of New Orleans. By overlaying a big brassy sound with funk beats and freestyle rapping, the Chameleons invite their audience to celebrate life and head straight for the dance floor.

Led by musical director and trumpet player Marty Pervan, the Chameleon’s line up includes some of Australia's top jazz/funk musicians. Ryan ‘The Apprentice’ Crothers as MC, AJ Hicks on trumpet/trombone, ‘Tobasco Al’ on tenor sax, Damian ‘Drac’ Denyer on baritone sax, Robin Murray on sousaphone, Matt Wright on drums and snare, and Andrew Pearson on bass drum.

Together, this group of musicians play a mix of original compositions, as well as covers that track their contemporary musical interests to New Orleans groups such as the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and Rebirth.

[email protected] is a free summer event hosted by the City of Subiaco for the residents of Subiaco. The 2009/10 series has showcased great live musical performances in the city’s beautiful parklands where the broader community have come together to enjoy the natural and cultural delights on offer in Subiaco.
