The State Government of Victoria is demanding the residents of its group homes throughout the state, people with an intellectual or multiple disability, pay a 50% fee hike in one hit, when they are already paying actual cost of living from their disability support pensions.

Federal and State governments are at logger heads over this totally unjustified cost hike, says Jenny Macklin, MP, Federal Minister for Disability Reform.

The federal government's NDIS is intended to make support services for vulnerable people easier, to give them more quality of life, as they have so little.

Yet, the Premier of Victoria, the Hon Dennis Napthine, MP, despite having a son with a disability living in a group home, is supporting his government's grab for cash.

This is a clear indication the Premier is prepared to flout his massive conflict of interest, to give his Department of Human Services more money to waste.

Tony Tregale, coordinator of family support and lobby group, Lifestyle in Supported Accommodation Inc., says the unjustifiable increase will reduce the quality of life of residents to little more than looking at four walls.
