St Luke’s Care has been recognised at this year’s IT in Aged Care (ITAC) Awards by winning the best project implementation award for a project known as ‘Mission Impossible’.

This year is the 7th Annual Information Technology in Aged Care Conference, held at Crown Casino. The theme of the conference is ‘Consumer Centric Service Delivery’, focused on how Aged Care organisations can drive efficiency gains through the use of technology.

St Luke’s Care was established in 1919, initially as a private hospital, and today the organisation comprises four divisions – St Luke's Hospital, Aged Care, Home Care and Apartments – all supported by the St Luke's Hospital Foundation.

Mark Compton, CEO, stated that "St Luke's Care has a great relationship with the Software Vendor – ThoughtWare and the task of managing clinical governance, HR, credentials and training across the 4 divisions has been automated to provide effective and efficient management of these processes. Regular meetings with the vendor and St Luke's have culminated in continuous improvements to the system which means we can meet the evolving industry and legislative changes.

 “We are very pleased with the outcomes of the i.on my software project and delighted to have won the Best Project Implementation Award for the 150 – 650 beds category. It was very clear to us that we needed a software solution that was flexible enough to allow us to customise without needing a programmer, simple enough for clinical staff to use, and could adapt to the changing regulatory environments.

“Our organisation needs to meet quite different standards and legislative requirements due to the different sectors within which we operate. The legislative and other regulations are complex, consistently changing and previously required significant resources to manage internally. The software system has allowed us manage data efficiently and effectively and we can now easily trend data and identify risks or areas of concern and act swiftly, creating improvements across all areas of the business. Our partnership with i.on my software has significantly contributed to this result."

In 2012 the Australian Council for Healthcare Standards (ACHS) awarded St Luke’s Hospital an outstanding achievement rating for quality, risk and incident management.

By virtue of these ratings, St Luke’s is now considered an industry leader and other organisations look to them for best practice approaches to quality, risk and incident management. St Luke’s Care has transformed the way quality, risk and incidents are managed operationally.

They have created an environment that connects all its business units and facilities -- and all of this would not have been possible without technology.
