Nearly 200 representatives from Tasmania’s electrical industry are due to gather today (12 April) at the Hobart Function & Conference Centre to attend the annual business lunch of Tasmania’s peak electrical industry body, the National Electrical and Communications Association’s (NECA).
Guests will hear speeches from former Australian cricketer and Channel Nine TV commentator Ian Healy and the Tasmanian Government Shadow Minister for Small Business Adam Brooks MP, who has a background in the electrical contracting business. The compere will be well known Southern Cross media identity Peter Murphy.
NECA Tasmania President Andrew Farr said, “Today will be a great day for the electrical industry in Tasmania as we welcome representatives from all parts of our business to this prestigious event.
“The lunch, which has become a popular annual fixture in Tasmania’s business calendar, has received a great level of support and provides an opportunity for NECA to thank its business sponsors for their ongoing support which enables us to offer members an even better range of services as well as the business and networking opportunities that this type of function provides.”
Also due to speak today is Stuart Beltz from Aurora Energy who was responsible for his company’s bushfire mitigation strategy and management plans during and following the recent devastating Tasmanian bushfires.
The lunch will provide an opportunity for NECA Tasmania to formally thank Stuart and Aurora Energy for their work during the bushfires.
“We formally recognise and commend Aurora Energy for the outstanding commitment demonstrated in restoring power so promptly to the residents of the Tasman Peninsula and other fire ravaged areas,” said Andrew Farr.
“The dedication shown in replacing such a huge amount of electrical infrastructure so quickly and in very difficult circumstances was exceptional and NECA would like to pass on our appreciation to everyone involved in the restoration effort.”
During the bushfires Mr Farr liaised with Aurora Energy and other organisations involved with restoring power to the bushfire affected parts of Tasmania offering the assistance of NECA members.
