Inaugural Property Women Gala Awards to be held in Brisbane

Women from across Australia and New Zealand will frock up in Brisbane this month to find out who takes home the first ‘Property Woman of the Year’ award.

The award is among six to be announced at the inaugural Property Women Gala Awards on February 20.

Property Women Director Rachel Barnes, from Adelaide, said the gala evening was a night for everyone in property to celebrate their achievements as well as the achievements of award nominees.

“So many Property Women have achieved beyond their own expectations and this is our opportunity to pat them on the back,” Rachel said.

“Among our nominees is a woman who at the age of 40, broke and with no assets, bought multiple properties worth more than $2million in just 12 months to turn her life around. Another woman added $4.1m of property investments to her existing portfolio in less than four years. It’s incredible!

“Women are really showing men a thing or two when it comes to property investing. Traditionally, investing in property or shares was ‘male territory’ but this is definitely changing.”

Rachel invited ‘anyone interested in property’ to the Gala Awards event saying it was a great opportunity to network and learn from women who are achieving incredible results in property.

“The best way to learn is to get out there and take action, but also to listen and learn from people who are achieving the results you want,” she said. “Over dinner and drinks we’ll celebrate the successes of everyone in property and reveal 15 of the most successful approaches to property investing used by our nominees and finalists to propel their property portfolios during 2009 - arguably the toughest year in Australia’s post war history yet these women have achieved amazing results.”

Awards will be given in five categories:
• Reno Queen
• Best Property Manager/Landlord
• Cash Flow Queen
• Development Diva
• Best Newcomer

“From these five winners, the ultimate achiever will be crowned Property Woman of the Year 2009 and take home a title to be proud of plus an amazing five day property tour of France valued at more than $5000,” Rachel said.
