Noosa’s tourism industry is expecting to feel the love this Valentine’s Day as the number of couples getting away for a romantic break will surge says a leading accommodation identity.

According to business analysts IBISWorld, couples lavished over $422.2 million on romantic mini-breaks last year – an increase of 5.9 percent on the year before, with signs this number will be even greater this year.

Stay in Noosa General Manager Dave Langdon says the recent bumper holiday season is a strong indicator that the year’s most romantic weekend will be a bumper one.

“We anticipate Valentine’s Day numbers will exceed the 2012 figures, a clear sign the tourism industry is back on the rise,” Mr Langdon says.

“More and more people are discovering how remarkable Noosa is, and our forward bookings reflect this with 2013 numbers up 50 per cent.

“If people are looking for a romantic getaway we recommend people book early to guarantee the best accommodation.”

Mr Langdon says over 92 per cent of visitors in the area are domestic tourists and Noosa is extremely popular due to being a short drive from Brisbane.

“Whether it is for a memorable proposal or a just romantic getaway, Noosa is perfect spot – especially when you’re staying on the water,” Mr Langdon says.

“Resorts like Las Rias and Noosa Quays on the Noosa River even have guest-only beaches with private pontoons for a more secluded setting.”

Mr Langdon says while many local resorts offer reduced rates during their low season, visitors should be looking for value adds to their experience.

“Stay In Noosa has created packages that provide a saving of 60 per cent on accommodation compared to peak rates with the addition of one of two activities paid for and included within this price,” Mr Langdon says.

“Our resorts have rooms that ordinarily go for $425 per night in high-season that come down to $175 per night during the month of Valentine’s Day.

“Guests can then either enjoy a treatment at Ibuki Health and Wellness Centre, learn to surf, or enjoy an ultimate paddle-boarding experience at no extra cost.”
