Today over 30 young women from around Australia will be able to pursue their aspirations after being awarded a Layne Beachley Aim for the Stars grant.

Today over 30 young women from around Australia will be able to pursue their aspirations after being awarded a Layne Beachley Aim for the Stars grant.

The foundation has awarded $70, 000 going to girls and women from various sporting, environmental, educational, business and cultural pursuits. The girls were selected from several hundred applications received from around the country.

Grants are awarded to applicants who best demonstrated how financial and moral support would further their education or personal development and the community.

The grant recipients for 2013 range from advocates of positive, body image, rural agriculture, orchestral conducting, organ and tissue donation education, aspiring Winter Olympians and disabled athletes.

The grants are categorised as Individual), Kick-Start, Group, Environmental, Athletes with a Disability, Academic, Business and Olympic hopeful encouragement grants.

Layne Beachley, the seven time world champion surfer says, “I am able to inspire and motivate women across Australia to dare to dream, pursue their passion and aspire to achieve.

“My support will give females the opportunity to maintain a determined focus on their goal, to achieve their dreams earlier in life. This will allow them to further their ambitions and aim for the stars.”

The Layne Beachley Aim for the Stars Foundation was launched in March 2003.The goal of the Foundation is to provide financial and moral support to girls and women across Australia to help them realise their dreams in sporting, academic, community or cultural pursuits.Over the last nine years, the Foundation has given $500,000 to girls and women Australia wide. From over 3,000 applications submitted, 270 females both individuals and groups have received financial grants.An opportunity for support exists for all females striving to achieve their goals.
