February 2010 is Ovarian Cancer Awareness month, and now Australian women can support the fight against this frequently fatal pelvic disease whilst also strengthening their own pelvic floor muscles.

For every online sale during the month of February, Pelvic Floor Exercise, Australia’s leading pelvic floor retailers, will make a donation to Ovarian Cancer Australia.

“We are proud to support Ovarian Cancer Australia” says Linda McClelland, director of Pelvic Floor Exercise. “The work that they do in supporting and advocating for women with ovarian cancer is invaluable.”

“Many of our customers suffer from pelvic conditions that undermine their quality of life and we are deeply sympathetic” she says. “But ovarian cancer is about more than quality of life. It kills more than half of diagnosed women within five years. The part that Ovarian Cancer Australia plays in raising community awareness and promoting early detection is vital.”

Around 1500 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer annually in Australia and more than 850 women die from the disease. Unfortunately most women are not diagnosed until their cancer has spread and is difficult to treat successfully.

There is currently no reliable early detection test or screening program for ovarian cancer, so community awareness of the symptoms and early signs is vital for early diagnosis.

Throughout the month of February, Pelvic Floor Exercise will donate $1 for every online purchase up to $30, $2 for every purchase up to $100 and $5 for every purchase of $100 or more.
