The Adelaide Central Reinforcement program is a project on a mission. At each critical step, through regulatory, statutory, Australian Energy Regulator approvals, community engagement, and development approvals, the dedicated project team has shown commitment, and excelled at the task that has been presented to them. The ElectraNet Executive has had confidence in each outcome resulting with the full program of works now fully endorsed by the ElectraNet Board.
ElectraNet is currently finalising contracts for the detailed design and construction of our new City West substation, underground transmission line and associated telecommunications link.
Having secured the ElectraNet Board approval, ElectraNet’s ACR project team is able to commence critical preparatory work with construction anticipated to commence in early 2010. The construction will take approximately one year to complete, with works expected for completion by late 2011. ElectraNet will prepare a Construction Environment Management Plan to ensure all potential effects are identified and managed appropriately. Key issues are likely to include traffic, noise and dust management during construction.
Mr Ian Stirling, ElectraNet CEO
Mr Ian Stirling says: “This expansion will strengthen Adelaide’s electricity supply and provide the opportunity to achieve long term growth plans for Adelaide and South Australia. We are very pleased this final step is now complete and construction can now commence.“
Mr Greg Rice, Executive Manager Development and Projects

We are committed to meet the reliability standards for Adelaide and look forward to working together with our contracted companies to ensure this work is completed on time. “
ElectraNet. Electricity. We move it.
Best practice and management systems for environmental, technical and social planning have played an integral part in ElectraNet's infrastructure development for South Australia, delivering major capital projects worth over $300 million in recent years to the community.
