Business Chicks, Australia's No.1 network for women welcomes Janine Shepherd as their first guest speaker for 2013.

Business Chicks will kick the year off in Sydney with one of their renowned breakfasts on Friday 8 February at The Westin Sydney. Janine Shepherd will be the first guest of 2013. Janine is a best-selling author to five books and has received worldwide acclaim thanks to TED’s global platform where she was recently asked to give her powerful talk. She is an internationally renowned speaker who’ll share on the morning the remarkable lessons on the true power of the human potential.

Janine’s life reads like an award winning Hollywood script. A champion cross-country skier in training for the Winter Olympics, she was tragically hit by a truck and her life changed forever. Doctors predicted she wouldn’t survive and warned that if she did she’d never walk again. But she defied all odds. Returning home in a wheelchair and refusing to live out the doctor’s predictions, she decided that if she couldn’t walk she’d fly. And fly she did.

Janine’s miraculous recovery and subsequent achievements are a testament to the power of the human spirit and a story you need to hear.

Janine refused to believe what medical staff were telling her and instead focused every sinew of her being on healing her broken body and crushed morale. She was told she’d never have children. She was told she’d never walk again. Now Janine is a mother of three and against all likelihoods is walking again too.

With the perfect script already written, her story was made into a movie ‘Never tell me never’ starring Australian actor Claudia Karvan.

Business Chicks

At Business Chicks we believe that great stuff happens when women come together to uplift and inspire each other. When we stop competing, and start lending a hand. When we give of ourselves and our expertise so that others can benefit from it. We imagine a world where women feel part of something bigger than themselves, and a world where we feel safe to give anything a go.
